Last Week!

Jay Gruden was 10-0 as Orlando's starter during the regular season. Preds Destroy Detroit, Clinch 3 Seed!
They did it, Finally! All the ups, and all the downs of the regular season, its all finally over and the Preds are on top atleast for a day.
After losing Jay Gruden to an ankle injury in week 4, getting rid of star fullback Rick Hamilton in week 7 and an injury to Travis McGriff in week 12, the Preds finished the season with a team record 12 wins against 4 losses.

The Preds finished the season on their second six-game winning streak, and in the streak winning by an average margin of 18 points. The Preds scoring defense finished number one in the league averaging just under 42 points per game.

Jay Gruden finished 10-0 as a Starting QB for the Preds, with 49 Touchdown passes and just two interceptions. Travis McGriff and Cory Fleming finished with the most combined yardage in Preds history beating Barry Wagner and Bret Cooper's record of 1999.

The Preds won the opening coin toss and took the ball first, the Preds were 11-0 this season when scoring first. Friday was no different, the Preds marched 40 yards in 5 plays capped by a 14 yard touchdown pass from Gruden to Thabiti Davis and a 6-0 Preds lead. Detroit would answer on a 5 yard touchdown pass from Quarterback Andy Kelly to receiver Jason Kaiser, Nick Gatto's extra point was good and Detroit took a 7-6 lead.

At the 4:30 mark of the first quarter the Preds would re-take the lead 12-7 on Lamont Moore's 4 yard touchdown run, and again Brian Schmitz was no good on his extra point.

The Preds would then get the first stop of the game on a 4th and 15 play, Andy Kelly's pass was knocked down by Preds linebacker Duke Pettijohn and the Preds would take over. One play later, Gruden hit Travis McGriff for a touchdown of 23 yards. On the two point conversion Gruden hit Cory Fleming for a 20-7 Preds lead.

Rupert Grant's 1 yard touchdown run would cut the Preds lead to 20-14. The Preds Ricky Wood answered right back with a 4 yard touchdown run of his own, the Preds then led 27-14 after a Schmitz extra point. Both teams traded field goals before halftime and went into the locker rooms 30-17 Preds.

Detroit scored quickly in the third quarter as Kelly hit Herman Bell for a 7 yard touchdown cutting the Preds lead to 6 at 30-24. The Fury would get no closer the rest of the game.

Gruden's 5 yard touchdown pass to Cory Fleming put the Preds up 37-24. On Detroit's next drive Preds Defensive Lineman E.J. Burt forced an Andy Kelly fumble, it was recovered by Jerry Johnson at the Fury 8 yard line.

Gruden's 2 yard touchdown pass to C.J. McLain put the Preds up 44-24 at the end of 3 quarters.

Detroit would then score on Andy Kelly's 4 yard touchdown pass to Jason Kaiser on 4th and goal. Sensing a change in momentum Detroit forced Orlando to a 3rd and 10 from their own 5. Gruden dropped back, side stepped the rush and drilled a pass 45 yards to Cory Fleming to seal the deal, Preds up 50-31.

Detroit did get a missed field goal touchdown return by Rob Carpenter, but it was too late and the Preds won 50-38.

The Preds defense has averaged 30 points against in the last 6 games and held 5 of their last 6 opponents under 40 points.

The Preds can now rest for 3 days before returning to practice for their home game on June 1 at the Jungle. The game will be at 3pm on NBC!
